Project: A Found Friend

Target Group: Youth/Secondary School students in Southeast Europe

Description of the Project:
The aim of this project is to support the process of reconciliation by improving the understanding of human rights and the recognition of diversity as assets for society and by empowering young people and their teachers to take local action. Youth in the targeted countries take trainings and lectures in areas of peace and dialogue, youth as human rights protectors, role of youth in improving intercultural relations, and the role of intercultural learning in creating multiethnic societies. Furthermore, the youth involved in this project organize workshops and debates to share their experiences and knowledge with other youth in the region.

Project: Babylon Center

Implementation Period: 2001 – present

Description of the Project:
This project develops programs and activities that satisfy the needs of children and the youth, completing their life skills, learning healthy life styles, and providing them space to learn new skills that will help young people during employing, founding families, communication and inclusion in social life. This project enhances the level of youth initiatives and activities of the Center, by involving volunteers and parents and promoting community involvement on improving the position of children and young people. This project also serves to enhance the capacity of the local non-governmental sector for work with young people.

Project: Telecenter

Implementation Period: 2005 – present

Location: Gostivar, Macedonia

Target Group: Youth

Description of the Project:
The purpose of the Telecenter is to promote and stimulate participation in the lifelong learning programs. They advocate for the rights of people with low purchasing power to have equal access to these programs, in order to develop competencies required for active participation in the knowledge economy. Current programs include information and communication technology (ICT), English language learning modules, and life skills development.

Project: Corridor Number 8 – partnership beyond politics

Implementation Period: January 2006 – December 2006

Location: Albania, Bulgaria and Macedonia

Target Group: General population

Description of the Project:
This proposal is focused on both: gaining broader support and realistic appreciation of the social and cultural impact of possible cross-country cooperation along the Corridor 8 countries meanwhile developing mutual trust and confidence. Main project approaches will be based on a variety of promotional, networking and advocacy activities mainly in non-political sectors to facilitate acceleration of policies towards Corridor 8.

Location: Albania, Kosova, Macedonia, Serbia and Montenegro

Target Group: Young people between 18 and 28 years of age, population between 28 and 35 years of age looking for a job, people working in public institutions and administration, NGOs from the region working in the field of human rights issues, conflict resolution, citizens’ education and watchdog activities.

Description of the Project:
The project is aimed at raising awareness and educating the public on starting a process of establishing effective standards and legal mechanisms that would and implement a merit-based system that promotes professionalism in public institutions and full legal protection of citizens against discrimination of political opinion by political parties.
